JJ Market,
which is called Chatuchak Weekend Market officially,
is one of my favourite places in Bangkok so far.
I still could recall the first time I visited this market was with my family like 5 years ago.
I remembered that as my mom and little sister were not very fond of the heat and the sun,
we only stayed there for an hour or so.
So, I have decided to drag Bee to spend more time with me in JJ market this time!
And there we are!
After a morning swim, we proceeded to JJ market!
We exited Mo Chit BTS station and already found a crowd of people/tourists walking towards the same direction.
Obviously they are heading for JJ market, where else could they go anyways?
So, we followed them and reached one of the entrance!
It was a SUPER HOT morning when we got there.
And it only got hotter.
What we wanted when we walked in was COLD MANGO!!!
But then as it was too hot in the air, what we got was WARM MANGO instead!!
Well, it was still fresh and sweet and I enjoyed it anyhow!
And then you would find a way to go into the shopping area of this HUGE MARKET.
And when I say HUGE, it's really HUGE.
If you are specifically looking for something or some stalls, you better get a MAP for navigation purpose!
And seriously you would easily get lost in this place.
So better KEEP AN EYE of your MATE!! And your KIDS of course!
But then, Bee and I did not have a specific aim, we decided to walk randomly.
There were chances where you would reach the end of the shopping halls and stepped into the open space.
Despite the sun was burning over my head, I liked the open space more as there was more fresh air out there.
Inside was way too crowded with people.
One thing in particular that I tried to seek was friend shrimp cake.
I remembered I had some really delicious one back here in JJ market 5 years ago.
Bee and I tried to find it out.
But then, it was real difficult to find something that might already gone in this HUGE place.
So in the end, we gave up finding.
Instead we found a small stall selling traditional Thai food.
And we ordered our favourite PAD THAI again!
This one was like 80 tbh, which was like $20 hkd.
Of course the other one we had in the Friday night market was cheaper, the noodle back there was more chewy,
but we like the SAUCE, the English menu, and obviously the SEAT here more haha.
That's also what people have been saying about JJ market,
it has become more and more commercial and touristy.
I would say, yes, it really had become more mainstream and souvenirs and stuffs became a big part of this market.
But then, I still enjoy walking through and spending my time in this lovely place!
We also ordered pork neck for 90 tbh, it was great but the portion was a bit too small for us.
Never mind, we had never intended to eat only one thing anyways!
Right after the food, of course we needed some drinks too!
And we picked water melon smoothie,
it was only 35 tbh for one, which was like $8 hkd only!
It was ICY COLD,
but REAL SWEET though, a little bit over sweet.
One thing I liked about here was that even though I might not be buying everything,
it was very nice to WINDOW SHOP without the WINDOW hahaa
Getting to see them was good enough!
And have I told you before I have a thing for DRIED FLOWERS?
I like flowers in general.
But I hate bugs and insects.
Also I did not like the extravagance of REAL FLOWERS that much.
Therefore, I adore dried flowers!
♥♥♥♥
Seeing the mango ice-cream stall made me realised I had not had any dessert yet.
And so, Bee got me this for $10 hkd.
Mango ice-cream with fruit toppings!
And it was tasty!:)
And then we had these!!
Only 10 tbh for one BBQ stick!! 2 hkd for one only!!
The taste was AWESOME and we had definitely regretted not buying more of these.
We saw this sign afterwards and had second thoughts about the mango ice-cream we just had.
If we hadn't had it, we could try this!!!
THIS LOOKS SOOOO INTERESTING!!!
But well we were too late to say so.
And at first, I was planning to spend maybe the whole afternoon here in JJ market.
But the truth is,
I have totally overestimated our patience and endurance.
We were so tired after 2 and a half hours later.
We left around 2:30 pm in the end, hoping to get to somewhere cold and indoor.
But we didn't leave with nothing.
We did got something for ourselves and our families!
